
The Biobank of Neurodegenerative Diseases of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki was created on the initiative of the B’ Department of Neurology and operates within the department. Biobank employs authorized staff of the Multiple Sclerosis Center and the Laboratory of Experimental Neurology and Neuroimmunology. It houses samples of serum and blood plasma, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), as well as peripheral blood cells. The samples stored are coded (by the use of barcodes) to ensure the protection of personal data and to enable identification of the samples. It was implemented within the framework of the “National Research Network of Genetic Neurodegenerative Diseases”, with the Funding Agency of the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation (GSRI). It was completed within 2023 and has received ISO/9001:2015 quality control system certification [IAF 35.38 / I-030-02-100-01189/4, Swiss Approval International].
