• 1989 Graduation (MD degree) from Aristotle University, Medical School, Thessaloniki and sworn as a Second Lieutenant 7 th in order of seniority, in the
  Hellenic Army (Medical Department of the S.S.A.S. – Hellenic Military Academy of Combat Support Officers)
• 1989 Research Associate of Laboratory of Physiology, Medical School, AUTH
• 1990 Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and in 1994 to the rank of Captain
• 1991 Internship in Psychiatry Department of 424 GSNE, in Internal medicine Department of 424 GSNE and in the B’ Department of Neurology, Aristotle
  University of Thessaloniki
• 1995 PhD degree in Neurophysiology/ Neurobiology, entitled: “The effect of neuromuscular activity on lower motoneuron development” in the
  Laboratory of Experimental Physiology and the B’ Department of Neurology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece (under the
  supervision of Prs I. Milonas, M. Albani, O Guiba-Tziampiri).
• 1996 Boards in Neurology, in Greece and continue as Attending Physician of the Neurology Clinic and Head of the 424 GSNE Neurophysiological
  Laboratory and at the same time he was a Research Associate at the at the B’ Department of Neurology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, until 1998

• 1999 Post Doc fellow in the Department of Neurology and Laboratory of Neuroimmunology, Hadassah Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel until 2000
• 2000 Head of the Laboratory of Experimental Neurology and Neuroimmunology of B’ Department of Neurology, AHEPA University Hospital
• 2002 and 2004 Visiting Researcher at the invitation of Prof P. Goldman-Rakic, Director of the Neurobiology Laboratory at the Yale University School of
  Medicine, New Haven, USA and Visiting Professor in Neurology in Hadassah University Hospital, Jerusalem, Israel
• 2005 Assistant Professor of Neurology, Medical school, Aristotle University
• 2006, 2007 and 2009 Sabbatical in Neuroimmunology, in the Brain Research Institute, Medical University of Vienna, Austria (Prof. H. Lassmann)
• 2011 Associate Professor of Neurology, Medical school, Aristotle University
• 2015 Professor of Neurology, Medical school, Aristotle University 2017 until now Head of B’ Department of Neurology, AHEPA University Hospital, Head of the Multiple-Sclerosis Centre and Head of the Laboratory of Experimental Neurology and Neuroimmunology. Moreover, he is Affiliated Collaborator of Institute of Applied Bioscience, Centre for Research and Technology – Hellas (INAB-CERTH)

Prizes:

He has been awarded many times for his scientific work, most recently from the
Academy of Athens with the Elizabeth F. Fotinelli – Ioannou D. Kritikou Prize of the
First Class of the Positive Sciences for the year 2023, for the research services and
the work in general for the treatment of multiple sclerosis.
